Welcome to the Town of Colchester Office of Building Code Enforcement
and Flood Plan Management

The Town of Colchester Pursuant to Local Law No.1 of Year 2021 provides for the administration of The New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and the Energy Conservation Code. Along with FEMA Flood Plan Management.

Our office provides Building Permits and answers to construction related questions.
– Most all construction and demolition require permits to be issued. Exemptions are one story Utility Sheds/Barns 144sq.ft. or less. Also Fencing less than 8′ high.

We also provide Flood Plain Permits and answers to flood plain related questions.
– Any activity on a FEMA designated property requires a Flood Plain permit. Including but not limited to Ground and Tree work.
