Welcome to the Town of Colchester Office Smart Growth Committee Comprehensive Plan Update

The Town of Colchester received a grant from NYS DEC 2024 Adirondack Park and Catskill Park Community Smart Growth Grant Program to Update its 2003 Comprehensive Plan.

The Town of Colchester seeks to update its 2003 Comprehensive Plan . This new plan will incorporate concepts related to sustainability, clime change adaption, and smart growth into its plans for the community over the next 10-20 year planning cycle. The Comprehensive plan will address population, land use, housing, economic development and tourism, transportation, capital facilities and utilities, environment and natural resources, climate change and resiliency, rural community wellbeing, historic preservation and building design and policies at the state, regional, and local levels that impact them.

Our CSPC Committee comprises community officials, Delaware County officials, Regional and local stakeholders and residents of the Town of Colchester.

The committee will hire a Qualified Professional Planner(s) to guide and direct the process, and aid in the gathering and compiling of data and public engagement, review goals and policies and prepare the draft plan.

Objective 1: Review the Town’s 2003 Comprehensive Plan/Achievements to Current Conditions (Duration 6 months)
Objective 2: Public Engagement (Duration 6 months)
Objective 3: Draft Comprehensive Plan (Duration 6 months)
Objective 4: Final Comprehensive Plan (Duration 6 months)

We look forward to working with everyone to create a plan that will include goals, policies and future land use designations that will support growth, economic development and tourism, all while we continue to protect environment and natural resources.
